YΦXΨΩ were the letters added by the ancient greeks to the early northsemitic (phoenician) alphabet.

SHAPE: Lots of versions in ancient cities of the Western-Eastern greek alphabet groups. Two main versions:
The eastern group of cities used Ψ for [ps] and X for [kh]. (See Chi X page)
The western group, used X for [ks] ΦΣ for [ps] and Ψ for [kh].
According to script historians the Ψ symbol came from extending the middle antenna of Y.

SOUND: Monogrammatic symbols were created by the greek alphabet to denote double consonants: e.g. Ξ for [ks] (they changed the past northsemitic phonetic value), Ψ [ps] (this letter was a new creation). The [ps] utterance derived from [p]+[s] or [f]+[s].
